I am a Wildcat. My mother, sister, aunt, uncle, wife, two kids, and in-laws are all Wildcats. And tonight I sit here, a 37 year old man that loves this city and this school, an emotional wreck. I had no children on the field today, no family at all. What I did have was 37 years worth of friends and their children playing one of the best football games I have ever witnessed.
Tonight the Wildcats left it on the field… They gave it their all. There is no doubt in this man’s mind that what was witnessed tonight was the culmination of heart, integrity, and will. All the things it takes to play this great game of football. Tonight, I had the opportunity, the pleasure, of watching my Wildcats go where no other Wildcat football team has ever gone before. Not only did I witness history being made, but I also witnessed the heart and determination that goes only with Texas High School playoff football…and it was given by both the Wildcats and the Pilot Point Bearcats.
There will be reflection on today’s game, talk about officials, and talk about “what if”. And that is normal, it’s something we will all do. But let that not distract from the accomplishment that was made or from the emotion that the players, coaches, parents, and fans are experiencing. And for the young men that played this game, and to their fantastic coaches, let me be one of the first of many to say “THANK YOU”. Thank you for the hours and years of dedication you put in to get us where we are today. And the legacy the seniors are leaving for the underclassman, and to the younger generations, will be felt and remembered for years to come.
I would go into the details of the game, talk about stats and scoring drives, but I wouldn’t be able to do it justice. What was witnessed today on the battle field can’t be described…it had to be felt, it had to be seen.
The Wildcats end their season with a 12 – 1 record. There should be no reason for any to hang their heads. Walk tall, walk proud…YOU ARE WILDCATS and we are proud of you! HOKA HEY!

On a wet and dreary night the Wildcats visited Midlothian’s stadium to battle the Winnsboro Red Raiders. The week prior to Friday nights festivities were full of trash talk, doubt, and excitement. But in the end the Wildcats remain undefeated in Region 2. With a 12-0 Record, the 2009 Wildcats are the first team in Godley’s history to make it into the 3rd round of playoffs.
The first quarter of Friday nights game was a battle of wills. Both teams showing their prowess on offense and on defense. The Red Raiders, on a great drive, made it within half a yard of the endzone only to have a fumble forced by Clint Aylesworth and recovered by the Wildcats. The Wildcats were unable to turn that into 6, and the first quarter ended without a score from either side.
When the second quarter began the Wildcats strength and stamina began to show, the nervous jitters had worn down and so had the Red Raiders. On a 40 yard punt return by Landry Martinez the Wildcats began their rally and kept the fire going for 3 more quarters to defeat the Red Raiders 34 – 13.
Defensive standouts Jake Williams and Clint Aylesworth along with the entire defense held the Red Raiders to only 182 yards and had one interception by Jacob Ramirez.
The Wildcats face Pilot Point Saturday, November 28th. Kickoff is at 2:30 at Roughrider stadium in Saginaw.
OFFENSE:
Riley Good – Passing: 3/2 passing for 41 yards Rushing: 19 carries, 117 yards , 4 TDs
Landry Martinez – 13 carries, 94 yards, TD
Ty Young – 1 reception, 30 yards
