Wildcats Break Breckenridge 49-6 |
|
On our first district game Friday your Wildcats
took the field prepared to do battle with a team touted to be the our
biggest matchup in district play. The Buckaroos deferred the coin toss
allowing the Cats first possession resulting in a march down inside the 5
yard line. On a mishandled snap, and resulting fumble, the Buckaroos
returned the ball to the Wildcat 4 yard line and were able to push it in for
6. But that would be the only score for the Buckaroos. The
Wildcats shook off the error and continued to march down the field for the
remaining 3 quarters to defeat the Buckaroos 49-6 on five rushing TD's and
two passing TD's. The Wildcat offensive line dominated this game. And with quality running backs like Landry Martinez (25-256), Kolby Brown (5-141), and QB Rhett Brawner (9-100, passing 2-3-39) having holes opened up that you could, at times, LITERALLY drive a truck through, the Buckaroos were just outmatched. Brawners two completions where both for touchdowns, one to "Up Town" Cale Brown with a 32 yard TD reception and Jacob "Mr. Deeds" Ramirez with a 7 yard TD reception. On the ground Landry Martinez was able to find the endzone twice, on a 77 yard and a 7 yard TD run. Kolby Brown also galloped in on two rushing TDs one for 61 yards the other for 62. On the opposite side of the ball the Wildcat secondary again waiting, if not daring the Buckaroos to air the ball out. Austin Martinez, coming off at 3 interception game last week, has made a name for himself and he along side the rest of the secondary rotation (Jacob Ramirez, Grey Humphries, Clayton Lowe, Kolby Brown, Drew Benge) shutdown the Buckaroo passing game. The Wildcats have allowed only 32 points this season in 5 games, while posting 257. The Wildcats host Eastland this Friday night. Godleys Offensive Stats: Rushing Godley 40-502 yds Landry Martinez 25-256, Kolby Brown 5-141, Rhett Brawner 9-100, Clayton Lowe 1-5 Passing Godley 2-3-39 Brawner 2-3-39 Receiving Cale Brown 1-32, J Ramirez 1-7 |

Humphries for a 66 yard TD and one to Cale Brown for a 21 yard TD.
Landry Martinez had 2 rushing touchdowns and rushed 9 times for 114 yards.

Scary First Half against Jacksboro, Leads to Stellar Second (54 -7) |
|
The Wildcats struggled through the first half of
play Friday night leading only 7 - 0 at half. But as if another team
replaced them for the second half of play, the Cats were back to form.
Tacking on 47 more in two quarters and allowing only one touchdown.
Defensively, Austin Martinez was a standout. Making two of what can only be described as "tooth rattling" hits and an interception. The defense as a whole kept the cats in the game the first half and never let down in the second. While offensively, the second half, the Wildcat line opened holes that would allow 47 more points to be added on from Landry Martinez and Colby Brown, both of which had incredible carries and showed their great skills in visualizing the field. The Wildcats travel to Gunter this Friday night. Listen in live! |

third quarter and blocking the P.A.T. attempt. The Wildcats will be hosting Jacksboro this Friday. |

Wildcat Observer on 1310 The Ticket...Homer Call Of The Year! |
March 2, 2010 - Not a prestigious honor, but an honor still! The Wildcat Observer wins Homer Call of the Year on 1310 AM, The Ticket. As most of our listeners remember, in the final game of the football season our Wildcats took on the Pilot Point Bearcats for the State Quarter Finals. With three seconds to play in the ballgame the Wildcats were leading the Bearcats by 2. On a final field goal attempt the Bearcats split the uprights to win the game with no time left on the clock. Of course in the press box, myself (Danny Fisher), James McGehee, Richie McKittrick, and Jason West were calling the game and hanging on every second that went by. When the final second ticked off the clock emotions ran high....and well, I'll just say it...there were some tears shed. Most can understand the emotion we felt, afterall we have been Wildcats our entire lives! That being said our broadcast was submitted to The Ticket as a "Homer Call". We competed against other broadcasters, some professional, some not so professional (Like ourselves). In the end we were victorious! Our sadness has brought many people joy... Listen below to the submission and the winnning votes. We have been invited to be in studio on Thursday, March 4th with the Tickets B.A.D. Radio at around 12:50 pm. So please listen in to 1310AM on that day to support us!
