Wildcat Observer on 1310 The Ticket...Homer Call Of The Year! |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
March 2, 2010 - Not a prestigious honor, but an honor still! The Wildcat Observer wins Homer Call of the Year on 1310 AM, The Ticket. As most of our listeners remember, in the final game of the football season our Wildcats took on the Pilot Point Bearcats for the State Quarter Finals. With three seconds to play in the ballgame the Wildcats were leading the Bearcats by 2. On a final field goal attempt the Bearcats split the uprights to win the game with no time left on the clock. Of course in the press box, myself (Danny Fisher), James McGehee, Richie McKittrick, and Jason West were calling the game and hanging on every second that went by. When the final second ticked off the clock emotions ran high....and well, I'll just say it...there were some tears shed. Most can understand the emotion we felt, afterall we have been Wildcats our entire lives! That being said our broadcast was submitted to The Ticket as a "Homer Call". We competed against other broadcasters, some professional, some not so professional (Like ourselves). In the end we were victorious! Our sadness has brought many people joy... Listen below to the submission and the winnning votes. We have been invited to be in studio on Thursday, March 4th with the Tickets B.A.D. Radio at around 12:50 pm. So please listen in to 1310AM on that day to support us!

New Districts Announced for Godley |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Thursday, February 4, 2010 - The new districts are announced this week for GISD. Next year the Wildcats will be moving to Division 1 Region 1 along with Breckenridge, Clifton, Comanche, Dublin, Easland and Whitney. Coach Randy Brawner said about the move, "We look forward to playing some of these West Texas teams, they have great community support (like we do) and bring good quality football..." In basketball a different district is in effect as well. Our Ladycats and Wildcats will now be playing against such teams as: Boyd, Brock, Jaxboro, Milsap, Paradise, Peaster, and Tolar. The reason for the two different district players are due to the D1 and D2 division in football. Larger schools will fall into the D1 area within their classification (Godley being 2A), while the others will be in D2. Although we lose the rivalries such as Grandview, we should have an exciting season in all sports again next year. For those that want to know, Grandview (in Football) will move into a district with: Dallas Life, Eustace, Maypearl, Palmer, and Sunnyvale.

Ladycats(8-2) fall to Lady Chargers while Wildcats (8-0) remain undefeated in district play |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Wednesday, January 27, 2010 - In a rematch against the Lady Chargers, last night, your Ladycats fell to 8-2 in district play. The Ladycats and Chargers kept the game close throughout the match but fell short in the fourth quarter. The Ladycats still struggling from the freethrow line were not able to put together the 7 points they needed. Final score was 61 - 54.
The Wildcats also battled the chargers in a rematch that brought them to an 8-0 record in District play thus far. The Wildcats played the Chargers in preseason and lost by 30 points, met them again early this season in district play and defeated them by 20. And last nights game kept the streak alive when the Cats defeated the Chargers 58 - 45. When asked, Coach Normand said "...this week is going to be a tough week for us, and its good to start it off with a win". Again, the speed and depth of the Wildcats bench continue to impress and distinguish them from the teams they face. Both the Ladycats and Wildcats will be meeting up with the Dallas Life School Lions this Friday. The Ladycats were defeated in the last matchup with the Lions. Due to technical difficulties we were unable to get stats for the Ladycats. Individual Stats: Points Rebounds Assists Steals

Scoring for the Ladycats: Maelan Brown - 9, Dallas Young - 7, Tollie Wylie - 2, Ashley Allen - 2. The Wildcats, in another extremely physical game, were able to defeat the Lions 47 - 42.
